Determine your target market keywords for your shop

You should already know this :) For example:

  • Viking jewelry
  • Country western jewelry
  • Homeschool moms
  • Underwater basket weaving :)

HOW TO DO KEYWORD RESEARCH

1. Search bar

Enter your shop keyword(s) into the search bar. Don't be too specific because you want to see what Pinterest recommends. For this example, I'll be searching "VIKING JEWELRY":

Notice all the keywords that show up? Pinterest is showing them to me because they are popular searches. Make sure to write these down, or even better, create a spreadsheet.

These keywords will make great keywords to use for board names and descriptions, pin titles and even for use in your bio so you show up like the profiles in the above image.

So I'm going to save these keywords:

  • Viking jewelry
  • Viking jewelry women
  • Viking jewelry mens
  • Viking jewelry diy
  • Viking jewelry ancient
  • Viking jewelry necklaces

*Do note that just like SEO anywhere on the web, it does change over time! So keep this in mind whenever you do research anywhere.*

After you click the search button, Pinterest will show you another list of suggested terms:

If any of those terms are relevant to you, go ahead and add them to your list. Combine your main keyword with these short-tail keywords. For example:

  • Viking jewelry rings
  • Viking jewelry women necklaces

Congratulations! You now have a list of keywords to use for board names, pin titles, your bio, etc... Repeat this process for all your main products if it applies. For example, I sell more than just Viking jewelry, I can also search for Pagan jewelry.

PRO TIP:

Remember Module 3? Yeah, your blog posts and articles! All these keywords you've gathered would make great blog post topics or YouTube video ideas.

2. The ads method

Since you have a business account, you can also find a ton more relevant keywords by setting up an ad. Don't worry, you don't need to pay for anything :)

First, go to ads, then click create campaign:

Make sure the box marked "consideration" is checked. The scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the RED continue button.

On the next page, select "find new customers".

Then, expand the "interests and keywords tab", then select "add keywords". The just enter your main keyword. Choose any other relevant keywords :)

Spend some time here and enter as many other broad keywords as you can to gather the most relevant keywords possible.

3. See what's trending

If you want even more data, go on over to the analytics tab and select trends:

Go ahead and enter one of your keywords and select it from the drop down menu!

You'll find some very useful data to help you now and in the future:

So now that you have all this amazing data and keywords, it's time to move onto optimization :)
